Alpha Omega Meeting Minutes,

 July 13, 2002

Our president, Abby, called the meeting to order. No minutes or financial report were read due to the absence of our secretary/treasurer. Lisa, along with several other members were absent due to their attendance of the S.P.I.C.E. convention.

Discussion was held on topics for future meetings. We are looking at a Monte Carlo night for October. Invitations will be sent to other area groups to join us for this evening. Meeting fees of $12.00 will be required per person, or $20 per couple. We will request R.S.V.P.’s. Minimum attendance for this idea to work well would be between 50 – 75 people. Abby will compose an initial letter to let other groups know of these plans. We will be checking on rental and availability of various games (craps, roulette, black jack, etc.) It was suggested that we also include costumes as part of the evening since it is Halloween month. Diane Brennan suggested we look into other weekend activities which may be available for those who might like to make a weekend of it.

August will be movie night. Diane Frank has a movie. Abby has a DVD player. September will be Glamour Picture night. Diane Kent will provide equipment. Suggested prices are $10 for a 5" x 7" photo and $18 for an 8" x 10" photo. Pictures can also be downloaded to a disc for those who want to take them home to their own computers. Anyone wanting to help with "prepping" people for their photo session or with accessorizing will be welcome.

September will also be nominations for officers for the next year, since it would be difficult to do at Monte Carlo night in October with other groups participating in the evening. The Christmas party will be discussed at the September meeting.

Menu for August: City chicken, sausage and peppers – Sherry; Delmonic potatoes – Kathleen and Gloria; Conolli and Kettle corn– Diane Brennan; Fruit salad – Geri. Someone to bring coleslaw and other side dishes. Rolls and butter - Karen.

Kathleen Fenton moved to adjourn, Diane Brennan seconded.

The program for the evening was presented by two representatives of LipSense. They demonstrated the LipSense version of lipstick and provided samples for everyone.

Dear Abby

Greetings

On Saturday, October 12th, Alpha Omega is putting on a "Monte Carlo Night". It will be an evening of games, Food, fun, and prizes. It will be a Las Vegas setting and food served buffet style. We would like to extend an invitation to members of other groups to join us for the Gala.

As is normal, our regular meeting place would be open about 6, with the food being a buffet ready about 7. Shortly thereafter we will start the gaming.

Of course there will some glitz and glam, as one would expect in a casino style setting, but we do ask that everyone use good judgment and dress classy and tastefully. There will be many guests, so we want to make sure to give a good impression.

The cost per person will be $12.00 to everyone, Guests and members alike. Gaming "chips" will be purchased at the cashier. Prizes will be awarded for most money won, most likely in 3 places. There may even be a few surprises~!

We would appreciate some RSVP’s for our planning. This can be done by calling our help line at 216-556-0067, or emailing one of us directly, or by using the Alpha Omega Address.

Contact us @ info@triess-Alpha Omega.org., or email Abby @ ACD1997@AOL.com

We look forward to seeing you all~!

Erie Sisters Gala

This is just a reminder that the Erie Sisters Gala is just around the corner. Mark your calendars for the weekend of November21-24. For more information, schedule of events, and reservations, contact them @ www.Eriesisters .org .

13th Annual TG Weekend

Hi gals,

This is Carla. I am the treasurer for Lambda Mu. This message is going out to all my non LM contacts. It is not chapter business but I thought

you would all like to know about it. I sent it to myself and have blind copied all of you.

October 17 through the 20th, 2002, The Chicago Gender Society is presenting the 13th annual TG Weekend at the Dunes in Douglas, Michigan.

CGS has been sponsoring this event for the previous 12 years as an outing for their group. Two years ago I went just for the Saturday Benefit Female Impersonator Show. Last year three of us went for three days. There were about 25 of us and we brought up the idea of letting sisters in Michigan know about the event. The president of the organization was enthusiastic about the idea and we have contacted CGS recently and the

enthusiasm remains.

This is a heads up to start saving your nickels and dimes so if you would like to attend, you will be ready when the time rolls around.

Here is a bit about the gathering lodging etc.

The Dunes Resort in Douglas is the main base. Reservations can be made by calling the Dunes at 616-857-1401. You can learn a bit about the place by visiting their web site: http://www.dunesresort.com You will find the GLBT community and the straight community well-mixed here and I have never seen any trouble of any kind (I have probably been to the Dunes a dozen or more times in the last two years).

Meal packages are available and if you stay at the Dunes and are a bit shy, there is no need to leave the grounds at all, but you will be missing a big part of the fun. Douglas and Saugatuck are on opposite sides of the Kalamazoo River. The two towns have been GLBT acceptant for longer than I can remember (I learned there were others like me there when I was about 14 and Carla is 61). There are good restaurants, shopping, and fun shops to poke your head into. The Fenn Valley Winery is nearby and tours are available. Thursday is something new this year and the officers of CGS are going to try to have golf available.

Jenny (a local "girl") and I are promoting this event because we have met the people (they are great) and we both hear all too often that

"THERE IS NOTHING TO DO IN WEST MICHIGAN FOR A T GIRL" ( Actually there is. On June 22, I am going to a one person FI show at the Dunes. The

problem is this stuff is not publicized very widely.) CGS MAKES NOTHING from this event. The Dunes make the room rent and meals and drinks they

sell. A meal package of Fri. and Sat. supper and Sat. and Sunday breakfast is available. Last year you could also get single meal tickets for the dinners.

Jenny and I have a pretty complete list of motels in the area and are going to update the costs before August and have that information available for those who wish to contact us. For girls who live close

enough, you can commute.

THERE! Long message but start saving those $$. It is a fun get-together. There are no seminars and no speakers, just lots of schmooze time with

other "girls".

As more information becomes available, Jenny and I will send additional messages. We are planning on another message similar to this in August

and September and will include more detail as it becomes available.
