Amy Bloom, Normal,
Conservative Men in Conservative Dresses,
and Critical Remarks

I've found that the selection of material about Amy Bloom, her essay on "Conservative Men in Conservative Dresses is taking up an awful lot of space on the Webmistress selects page.  For that reason I'm dedicating a page to these topics alone.

Then again, maybe you don't want a second opinion

This is the article you don't want to read.  This is the one that puts in black and white the most charitable view of Tri-ess that a discerning outside observer (Amy Bloom) can make.  It isn't pretty.  Stop and think...is this all you want to be?  Conservative Men in Conservative Dresses is now published in a somewhat longer form in a book titled "Normal".  Your Web Mistress has reviewed  this book, and that review is posted below. In the meantime, I've added two more reviews/interviews with Bloom.

Your Web Mistress Reviews Amy Bloom's Normal

The publisher kindly sent us a review copy of Amy Bloom's new book, Normal.  Normal contains an expanded version of the "Conservative Men in Conservative Dresses Article, as well as essays on Female-to-Male transsexuals and people with intersexed conditions.  This review is lengthy and you may find it as unsettling as the book.

And Another Side to the Story- Nangeroni Rebuts Bloom

While the Amy Bloom article has a lot of powerful points to reflect on, there are some things wrong with it.  Nancy Nangeroni of gender-talk radio isn't taking it lying down.  From sources (Blanchard of all people) to breach of trust, Nangeroni lays it out. What do you think? Send me an email.
