Due to the turmoil affecting our group at the end of the year (2002), The Society for the Second Self removed our charter and declared us to be in need of rechartering.  As part of the process of re-chartering, TriEss required that we sign a document called a letter of Commitment.  After a review of the terms of the letter, thorough discussion, and by a unanimous vote, we determined that our organization could not agree to those terms.  Further, we note that The Society for The Second Self has indicated that it will be reorganizing shortly and it was felt it best to wait and see if the revised organization was something we would be interested in affiliating with.  

Please be assured that The Alpha Omega Society, as we shall now call ourselves remains committed to the cause of the heterosexual crossdresser, family and friends.  We still have many beliefs and ideals in common with the Society for the Second Self.  The Officers of the Alpha Omega Society have decades of combined experience in running a local support organization.  In no way will our independence compromise our ability and commitment to serve as a part of the transgendered community in the greater Cleveland Area.  Our web site, constitution and by-laws and many documents are in a process of revision to reflect our new status as an independent organization.
